In 2008 the HDWA embarked on restructuring public medical imaging services in metropolitan Perth. Management of the Departments of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (among others) became the responsibility of an overarching entity known as ImagingWest.
In 2011, the Imaging Support Services section of the Division of Imaging Services at RPH, which had provided personnel for DIP, was disbanded and staff were transferred to corporate services of ImagingWest.
The Executive Director of ImagingWest (Bill Macdonald) became the DIP Executive Sponsor. However, an organisational structure that had guided and supported the development, maintenance and expansion of DIP in the Division of Imaging Services was not recreated in ImagingWest.
In 2012, a full-time position of DIP Manager was created in ImagingWest and the Business Manager (Phillip Bairstow) from the disbanded Division of Imaging Services was transferred to the new position.
Whilst other positions that were necessary for DIP, notably Information Technologist and Quality Coordinator, were created in Corporate Services of ImagingWest and personnel were transferred from the Division of Imaging Services, no positions now reported to the DIP Manager.
Although some support for DIP was provided, it was not specified. The Editor, Manager and Research Registrar received ad hoc assistance.
Robert Long supervised information technology staff in his section in providing assistance for DIP and associated initiatives (development of a DIP App for hand-held devices and IREDS).
Alison Shand as Quality Coordinator contributed to the further development of information for consumers.
When funds became available, Felicity Millman was recruited in 2013 to coordinate and collaborate with General Practitioners in the development and trial of IREDS, and an external contractor (Radlogic) was sourced to develop IREDS (2014) and another (Sigmalogic Pty Ltd) to develop DIP Apps for hand-held devices (2014 - 2015).
